Can’t make it to the Danbury Farmers’ Market on Saturdays? No worries! The Farmers’ Market is coming to the Senior Center. Clatter Valley Farm of New Milford will bring their fresh vegetables and produce right to the Senior Center and set up a Farm Stand just for you! Come check it out on Wednesdays, June 20, July 18, August 15, September 19 and October 17. These are the same days we host Eat Smart Live Strong, our education and nutrition program that awards $15 in Farmer’s Market gift certificates to those that attend. You can go right from class out to the parking lot of the Senior Center Farm stand and shop! Thank you to CityCenter Danbury and the Danbury Farmers’ Market for making this happen. Cash, credit cards, SNAP cards, Fruit and Veggie gift certificates, and state department of agriculture vouchers will be accepted. Call Elmwood Hall/Danbury Senior Center for more details on the Farm Market on the Move and Eat Smart Live Strong Education and Nutrition program. Sign up required for Eat Smart Live Strong. Must be 60 years of age. All ages welcome to shop at the Farm Market.
Heather Peracchio, MS, RD, CD-N will again lead the popular program “Eat Smart, Live Strong” that is designed to help those age 60 and up incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and exercise into their lives.
