Enlighten Lady Liberty History Talk – Experience history as it comes alive at Putnam Ridge, Brewster, on Friday, September 9th, 5pm, by exploring the Statue of Liberty’s amazing origins, from concept design to installation! Older adults are encouraged to bring a friend to this complimentary dinner program, titled, “Enlighten Lady Liberty,” a talk by Historian Arthur Gottlieb, LCSW. Reservations are suggested by calling 845-278-3636. The iconic Statue of Liberty stands watching over the New York Harbor as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. Mr. Gottlieb will explore the history of this colossal copper figure by traveling back in time on a photologue of one of America’s most beloved monuments, from the ancient origins of its design to her post on Liberty Island. America’s romance with Lady Liberty started when the gift from France, designed by engineer Gustave Eiffel, was presented to the United States in the late 1800s. Her light shines over the gateway of our nation as a beacon of hope, endurance, equality, and promise. Putnam Ridge, located at 46 Mt. Ebo Road N., Brewster, NY, is the sponsor of this complimentary dinner program for older adults and will provide a light dinner and refreshments. Space is limited. Reservations are recommended by calling 845-278-3636 or emailing [email protected]
