Administrative Assistant / Front Desk (Part-time)

Department of Elderly Services
General Description of Duties:
Under the supervision of the Director of Elderly Services, assists with all secretarial/administrative aspects of the department. Works closely with all staff in the department to assist in delivery of all programs and services to senior population.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet members, volunteers and guest speakers.
- Coverage of phones, messages, voicemail.
- Assist with scheduling of van transportation program.
- Take reservations for events, seminars, benefit appointments, etc.
- Cashier/collection of fees.
- Computer work, create and edit documents, e-mail, internet, social media.
- Assist with maintaining bulletin boards.
- Assist with administrative tasks for various programs.
- Sign up new members and perform new member orientation.
- Provide general information and referral regarding elderly services.
- Back up program set up assistant when necessary.
- Various and sundry activities as needed by director.
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
Computer skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, organizational skills, ability to handle money, ability to work with the public and older persons.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalency. One year of experience working in the field of aging.
