The Department of Elderly Services would like to thank area businesses and non-profits for donating lunches, along with coffee and donuts for Danbury seniors when Elmwood Hall / Danbury Senior Center was on a boil water restriction last week. Director Susan Tomanio, LCSW, did not want to take the chance and serve the senior nutrition meal that kitchen partner CW Resources would have had to heat up, plate and serve. “I just did not want to take any chances”, said Tomanio, “especially with the norovirus scare at WCSU and with a few of our seniors recently getting ill.” Local businesses Chick – fil – A (Brookfield) provided their famous chicken sandwiches for lunch and Mike’s Towing and Collision Center provided coffee and donuts from Dunkin Donuts (143 Danbury Rd., New Milford). CW Resources and The Prime Timers, Inc. Friends of Danbury Seniors, provided pizza and ice cream sandwiches. Bottled water was transported by the senior center van from the fire house on New Street for seniors to have at the center as well as to take home. “All in all we had a good week” said Tomanio, “thanks to our generous community partners.”
