In the next few weeks, residents of Ridgefield’s first age-restricted housing complex, a 54-unit mix of town homes and condos on Sunset Lane, will begin moving in.
Only a handful of the units, reserved for those over age 55, are finished, but developer Martin Handshy said the demand — even for the ones that are still under construction — is overwhelming. Of the 54 units that will eventually occupy the 10-acre property, 51 are already under contract, Handshy said.
“I never thought I’d see it in my lifetime,” he said. “It’s just amazing. At one point, we had a list of close to 260 people that expressed serious interest here. The demand for this type of housing is quite large.”
