Danbury’s Age Well Community Council will host it’s second Summit on older adults and food insecurity. According to their statistics, “1 out of 14 older adults in CT is food insecure – and that number is likely to rise.” According to the Council, “food security refers to the availability of food and one’s access to it. Food security exists when people at all times have physical and economic access to adequate amounts of nutritious, safe, and culturally appropriate food to maintain a healthy and active life.”
The Summit will take place on Thursday, June 6 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Ethan Allen Hotel, Danbury.
The keynote address will be given by Jaime S. Foster, PhD. RD, Senior Director of Community Partnerships and Programs for the Connecticut Food Bank in partnership with the United Way of Western Connecticut.
Join older adults, professionals serving older adults, food pantries, area businesses, faith groups, hospital and health care providers, physician groups, senior centers, civic associations, philanthropy and more.
Sponsored by the Age Well Community Council of Danbury through support of the Peter and Carmen Lucia Buck Foundation.
