Last month Antonio Olivo wrote an article for the Washington Post titled “How the graying of America is stretching local tax dollars.” With a focus on the state of Virginia, Mr. Olivio brings attention to the aging of Americans and how policy and infrastructural are not prepared to handle this change.
The article quotes Rodney Harrell, a public policy director at AARP:
“The vast majority of people want to stay in their communities as they age, but many of those communities weren’t designed for that. We’ve spent decades, and maybe even centuries, not planning for aging and designing for aging.”
