The World Health Organization (WHO) defines Health Education as “any combination of learning experiences designed to help individuals and communities improve their health, by increasing their knowledge or influencing their attitudes.” Every year public health officials raise awareness of the importance of older adults and children getting flu shots.
Why is getting a flu shot so vital for older adults? Because, as you age, your immune system weakens, leaving you vulnerable to illness such as flu.
Prepare for
the flu season by getting your flu shot. Flu shots are available at senior centers, pharmacies, doctor’s offices, and flu clinics. During flu season wash your hands often with soap and water and cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough. Most flu shots cost nothing. Traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage Plans cover the cost of your annual flu shot.
Elmwood Hall / Danbury Senior Center has partnered with Western CT Home Care to bring you two Flu Clinics on the following days:
Wednesday, October 14 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Wednesday, October 21 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Please call ahead at 203-797-4686 for an appointment.
Make sure you bring your Medicare card or Medicare Advantage Card!
