LET’S DO THE TIME WARP AGAIN
IT’S ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW’S 40TH ANNIVERSARY
Get ready to do the Time Warp again when The Rocky Horror Picture Show returns to Danbury’s historic Palace Theatre on Oct 30 & Oct 31.
“Rocky” holds the record for the longest-running release in film history – a whopping 40 years of a continual theatrical run and counting! Interestingly, the film bombed when it was first released in 1975. However, when re-released as a midnight movie, the film really took off! In fact, it was a midnight mainstay at The Palace during the 1980’s.
The film is a musical parody of B-movies, science fiction and horror films. A young couple gets a flat tire during a storm and stumble into the eerie castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Directed by Jim Sharman, “Rocky” launched the careers of Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, and Meatloaf.
“Rocky” is not just a movie, it’s an experience! One of the reasons for its long life is audience participation – and that’s exactly what’s expected at the Palace screenings. Audience members are encouraged to dress as their favorite character, throw props during the film, and be ready to yell back lines of dialogue as part of the audience partici- (SAY IT!)-pation.
To make participation easier, prop packages which include everything you need to join in the fun can be pre-ordered when ordering tickets.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be shown at The Palace Danbury on Friday, October 30 at 8PM and Saturday, October 31, at 8PM. Tickets cost $15 and prop packages cost $5. Tickets may be purchased online at www.thepalacedanbury.com, by telephone at (203) 794-9944 between 1-5 PM daily, and at the box office starting one hour before showtime.
